Merlo P27.6 PLUS Telehandler
Always first in class
Telehandler for sale: Merlo P27.6
The Merlo P27.6 is the smallest model in the compact telescopic handlers’ family, which, when combined with its high manoeuvrability, makes it extremely easy to use during material handling and positioning, particularly in tight spaces.
The Merlo P27.6 PLUS is manufactured with the exclusive Merlo cab, which is already a favourite among higher-end models and ensures the most spacious and comfortable driving position on the market. The large glass surface, soundproofing and exclusive roominess allow you to get the most out of this model’s capabilities while reducing fatigue and ensuring maximum safety.
Features
The P27.6 Plus provides power and essential features that are suited to each customer’s needs, ensuring performance and efficiency in any situation. Paired with a wide range of Merlo attachments, there is a Merlo for every job.
Cab
The cab is designed to provide our customers with unprecedented levels of comfort. It is the widest in the category at 1,010m and acoustic and thermal comfort has also been made a priority. Furthermore, the low frequency hydropneumatic shock absorber system reduces vibrations significantly in the passenger compartment and in the driver’s seat.
- Air conditioning: The air conditioning system is completely new and was developed to meet automotive standards, halving warm-up and cool-down times to ensure the best temperature in all conditions. Even in extreme weather, the Merlo cab can maintain a comfortable internal temperature. To extend the life of the filters, the inlet vent is located on the side of the cab, away from potential sources of dust and dirt. For maximum climate comfort, there are eight vents on the inside, three of which are dedicated to defrosting the windscreen.
- ROPS/FOPS: The Merlo cab is both FOPS (Level II) and ROPS certified. This provides the operator with a high level of safety and protection.
- Pressurisation: Merlo cabs have a pressurisation system that meets ISO 10263-3 standards.
- Visibility: Merlo telescopic handlers are known throughout the world for their exceptional visibility, thanks to the large 4.3 m2 glass surface and unique roof design.
- Reverse shuttle at the steering wheel: The reverse shuttle at steering wheel control is simple and easy to use, increasing safety and manoeuvrability while maintaining full steering wheel control.
- Door that can be opened at 180°: Our exclusive door design that can be opened at 180° for easy access and features an independent upper window: air circulation, visibility and direct contact with those working outside are assured without compromise.
Axles
Merlo develops and manufactures its own axles, which are custom-made and tailored to each application, enhancing performance and safety for each model.
- Epicyclic reducers: The Merlo P27.6’s axles are fitted with epicyclic reducers, which are known for their high reliability. Their unique design allows for a lower centre of gravity and superior traction.
- Three steering modes: Three steering modes are available: front wheels only, pivot steering and crab steering. This one-of-a-kind solution for the axles ensures the maximum steering angle for manoeuvring in tight spaces.
- Four-wheel drive: The driving wheels, which are always engaged, are synonymous with maximum traction in all operating conditions.
- Braking: For maximum safety in any working situation, the integrated servo-assisted braking system acts on all four wheels. When the engine is turned off, the parking brake is automatically engaged, but it can also be engaged manually from the cab.
Powertrain
Merlo engineers have used technologically advanced diesel engines, advanced hydrostatic transmissions and axles with dry disc brakes, all of which help to reduce power absorption. Electronic engine/transmission management optimises the telehandler’s performance while lowering energy consumption.
- Kohler 75 HP engine: The P27.6 PLUS model is equipped with a 75 HP (55 kW) four-cylinder Kohler Stage V engine. The engine complies with the anti-pollution regulations with the DOC (Diesel Oxidation Catalyst) and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter).
- A maximum speed of 40 km/h: The only one in the category to reach the maximum speed of 40 km/h.
- Gear pump: The hydraulic gear pump ensures optimal and simultaneous control of all movements and reduces maintenance costs. The Hydrostatic transmission system is managed in a way that guarantees a high static starting torque, smooth millimetric progression and optimisation of cycle times and consumption.
Boom
Merlo’s engineers have created a sturdy, compact and lightweight telescopic boom that has become a benchmark for design, load capacity and work speed. The chosen Scandinavian steel is structural in nature, with welds running parallel to the neutral bending axis, resulting in a rectilinear boom in any extension or loading condition.
- 5.9m boom: The boom is made up of two sections, with a maximum lift height of 5.9 metres for maximum versatility. The boom extension cylinder, hydraulic pipes, and electric cables are all housed within a cartridge structure that is inserted in the boom. This unique solution extends the component’s life and makes the external shape clean and snag-free, allowing for quick maintenance.
- ZM2: All Merlo attachments can be connected to the ZM2-type tool carrier carriage. The tools are hydraulically locked from the cab and the hydraulic and electrical connections feature quick couplings.
- Tac-Lock: The attachments are easily replaceable thanks to the Tac-Lock system used for hydraulic attachment locking, which improves operating comfort.
- Hydraulic and electrical connections: Hydraulic and electrical connections are available at the end of the boom, allowing for the movements of the various usable attachments to be operated directly from the cab.
Safety comes Standard!
Merlo products comply with Australian Standards AS10896-1 and AS1418.10.
The whole Merlo product range that is sold and used in Australia has been certified to meet the required Australian Standards. Merlo’s most popular telehandlers have been tested and certified to the latest Standard specifications. According to specific load charts for Australia, the certification includes design analysis, stability and limiting device validation. The structural integrity design is also assessed.
As a result, Merlo machines come with a Certificate of Conformity directly from the manufacturer, Merlo S.p.A. Furthermore, any Merlo Telehandler and its original attachments offered to our final customers can be provided with their appropriate specific “Design Verification” documents upon request.
